Craft Show and Vacation

Hi everyone,

Seems like I have been pretty busy of late. I am getting ready for a craft show on November 12, at the Northland Cathederal. I have almost completed the items I am going to sell.

Dave and I took a trip to Eureka Springs, AR over the weekend to see the War Eagle craft fair and to see the changing of the leaves in the Ozarks. We were a little early for the leaves but the weekend was beautiful. Our motel over looked Beaver Lake. Lots of people in Eureka for car shows and the arts fair.

This week I am getting ready for a garage sale on Friday and Saturday. I have been cleaning out closets, drawers and pantries. Tomorrow I will be going through my craft room and rec room. Garage sales are a lot of work. It doesn't matter whether it is big or small.

I am going to try to take some pictures of my crafts and post them sometime this week. Sign up to be a follower so you won't miss out.

Good night.

The best gifts are Homemade

Good afternoon,

I have a day off so I have been pretty productive today. My laundry is done and put away, the roast is in the oven, my plants are happy because they are taking in the beautiful sunshine and I get to do some crafting. In my next few blogs I will be posting some pictures of items I am making with yo yos. Today I am showing you some baby socks with yo yos as decorations. I think they are cute. Thinking I might send a pair to Katy. She recently had a baby girl. If you have any ideas about what I could put yo yos on, please leave a comment. I am looking for a shop that takes homemade items on consignment or buys them outright and resells them. I would prefer that the store be within a 25 mile radius of Kansas City. So if you know of any places like that please let me know by leaving a comment. I also took a picture of the Asian Lillies that are in bloom in my back yard. The yellow flowers are beautiful. I hope all of you are having a wonderful day. I will leave you with these words: Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.

Until next time,

Heart To Heart II

Wanted to show you a project I just completed. They are hearts embroidered with the word LOVE. I used muslin, embroidery thread in cream and brown, buttons and satin flowers. I thought they would be great decorations on presents, or as a gift to someone you love like your mom, daughter, grand daughter, or a friend. It was an easy project and I enjoyed making them. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Dave and I visited the graves of my Father, and of my Aunt Irene along with other relatives in Richmond during the Memorial Day weekend. We also visited the graves of Dave's Mother and Sister. It is always a time of reflection for me. I like to remember the person and keep them close to my heart. I hope that you had a nice holiday and were able to visit your loved ones that have moved on to a grander place.

I will leave you with this : THE SKY IS THE LIMIT WHEN YOUR HEART IS IN IT !!!!

Good night,

SPRING

It is May 19, 2011. It is cloudy with rain and a temperature of 55 degrees. Not what I call a perfect spring day. In about one month Summer will arrive and it seems we haven't had a lot of warm weather. I would love to see the sun on my day off from work. It seems my day off always coincides with the cloudy, cold rainy days. I have been able to plant a few flowers, but they are not growing very fast since the temp. will not stay above 60 degrees for very long.

Of course today I am off and guess what? It is cloudy, cold and rainy. It did not stop me from going and buying more flowers to plant. After having lunch with Dave we made a visit to Larry's. Larry's is a greenhouse in Riverside, MO. next to Red-X. There are several reasons why I like to go to Larry's. They always have so many varieties of floweres to choose from. I can always find a new flower to try. Last year I discovered the Candy Corn plant. It is the cutest little flower. The blooms look exactly like a piece of Candy Corn. This year I found two new plants to try. The first one is called a Shrimp plant. The lady at Larry's said to put it in full sun and don't over water it. It likes to be fairly dry. The second plant is a new Begonia. When the flower blooms it looks like a rose. Dave and I chose a red one. They come in orange and also yellow. The orange colored ones were gone. We have a lot of flowers in our yard and I like to take pictures of them. I hope you enjoy this blog and the pictures.

Blizzard of 2011

It has been 4 years since I last wrote on this blog. Not quite sure why I wrote one time and then stopped but my daughter has sparked my interest again. She has started a new blog but doesn't want me to give out any information to anyone yet. I have read her postings and as always I love to read her writings. Her blog is about her adventures in cooking. She is a wonderful cook and is always trying new dishes.

Well it is the day after the Big Blizzard of 2011. Wow, was that a storm or was that a storm.

On Monday I really had my doubts about whether it would really take place or were the Weathermen just pulling our legs again. They like to wet our appetite with big weather events and then let us down at the last minute. Do you think they just do that so that we will tune in again for the ten o'clock news? Gary is always bragging about his three degree warranty. But does anyone ever keep track of what he predicts to see if he is correct? It doesn't really matter to me but my husband would like to catch him in his error if he could.

I woke up on Tuesday morning and opened my living room blinds to find an all out blizzard happening. As I sat drinking my coffee, watching the very few cars go by on the street in front of our house, I was debating on whether or not I should venture out to work. My husband and I discussed it and were about to make a decision when the telephone rang. After the second ring I picked up the phone receiver and said hello. At the other end was my co-worker. She was calling me to say the store would be closed for the day. This is the first time in 20years the store has closed it's doors. I was very happy to get the good news.

I had a very nice day, because I had my laundry done had made a pot of vegetable soup the day before and if I wanted too I could embroider all day long.

Now my neighbor next door is what I call compulsive. I wonder sometimes what gets into him.

During the heaviest part of the blizzard he decides to go out and start shoveling his driveway. He dug a path big enough to get his car out of the garage so he could take his wife to work the next morning at 3:30 am. Only one problem, within two hours the snow had accumulated as much as was there before he shoveled the first time. He was right back where he started.

This morning we awoke to the sun shining and drifts of snow up past our knees. My husband being the very nice man that he is shoveled a path to the van and around the van so I could get out and go to work today. I always think the snow with the sun shining on it is beautiful to look at. The roads to work were pretty good since I stayed on the main thoroughfares. The side streets were a different story. I could see they had not been plowed and can imagine those residents were a little miffed. Coming home this evening I checked out the side roads and it appeared the roads had been plowed. Thank you Kansas City.

Well, I guess I have said enough tonight. It is midnight and I should really go to bed. It is amazing how fast time passes when you are doing something you really like to do.

Life is not waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
Good Night
